Item Details
English basket hilt broadsword (likely windlass mortuary sword variation). Double-edged broadsword straight blade with poof marked 5-point star to either side & (MORRT) probably for mortuary. The handle with downturned flat-curled quillion, shell to either side and a series of flat steel bars that lead to three points under a hollow pommel. Grip leather wrapped wood with a twisted wire over. Size 36 1/2" L, blade 30 1/8" L. Condition: very good with oxidization and darkening patination, grip with worn sections, blade with various points of wear and knicks.. Provenance: Ex-Southern California collection

Payment is required by the Buyer within 3 days immediately following the completion of the sale. The Buyer agrees to pay the hammer price plus the buyer's premium as well as any applicable sales tax. This auction is conducted under the listed terms and conditions. Conditions and representation of lots is provided as guidance for the bidders and should not be treated as a statement of fact. All lots are sold as is with no representation of age, condition or description. Absence of condition does not imply perfect or free of flaws including cracks, damage, tears or other possible imperfections. By participating in this auction bidders agree that all lots are sold as is without any warrants or representations with respect to the lots. The auctioneer retains the right to reject any bid and to withdraw or pass any lot at his or her absolute discretion. When identical absentee bids are submitted the auctioneer will accept the first bid presented at his or her discretion. The highest bidder as determined by the auction house shall be responsible to pay for the hammer, buyer's premium and any applicable sales tax. Ownership of lots shall not be transitioned to the respective winning bidder until the auction house is satisfied with all funds being transferred and cleared to the auction house's account. All sales are final. Buyers have 10 days to arrange for removal of lots from the auction houses facility. After 10 days the auction house reserves the right to charge a $5 storage fee for each additional day until the lots have been removed. The auction house reserves the right to relist and sell any lots which have accrued a storage fee larger than the hammer plus buyer's premium total for a given lot. Shipping and safe delivery of the lots is the buyer's responsibility. The auction house reserves the right to update or remove any lot listed at the auction house's discretion.
